We’ve got a special treat for you this Third Thursday: Dresden Optical launched just a few weeks ago on Smith Street in Fitzroy, and are already taking the suburb (nay, the optical industry) by storm. Dresden’s spectacles are modular, durable, made from recycled materials in Australia, and darn affordable — $49 a pair, ready-to-go with a basic prescription.

What we’re really excited to bring you, however, is Dresden’s story of bringing a new way of servicing customers of the optical industry to life. They’ve explored all the details of their service — from user-testing their glasses for a universal and life-proof design; to exploring ways to provide affordable optics to remote Australian communities; to minimising plastic waste during the injection-moulding process; to giving customers the ability to walk out of their store with a fresh pair of specs in about 15 minutes.

Come join SDM for this intimate in-store chat with co-founder Prue Ivers at their Smith Street store, where you can hear, see and feel their story for yourself. Afterwards, we’ll be heading on to Pixel Alley for drinks, burgers and video games. Spots will be limited — RSVP fast!

For those that miss out on the RSVP there will be a gathering afterwards for some video games and a couple of beverages at pixel alley (starting from 6:30).
